A "commons passport" is a provocative title for a collaborative research tool for anyone working on the commons. It's a working title.
The title refers to the historical practice of the role of the Journeyman in developing a craft or trade. These journeymen would carry with them a Wanderbuch which acted as both a CV, and a from of passport.
The idea here is to create a similar "personal object" - something you won, carry with you, and write in, but also as with the Wanderbuch use as a Passport To Knowledge.
# Mobile Wiki Mobile Wiki would allow you to record your thoughts, discoveries and investigations, but consciously as a way to Contribute To The Commons. This naturally lends itself to the idea of a mobile app for wiki.
Knowledge you gathered for your own learning and research would help aggregate shared knowledge about the commons.
# CV as passport Your personal wiki, can act as a CV and means to establish your reputation as an active contributor to the commons.
Endorsements from others you meet and work with on commons projects can automatically generate a Factual CV of your learning and contributions.
This can be a way to meet people at events, where you can connect in person, and share knowledge - not just business cards.
# Target Audience The commons passport would appeal to anyone working on the commons, and too organisations that have a shared interest in developing different aspects of the commons.
This would include (amongst others):
* P2P Foundation * OSCEDays * Ouishare * NextEdge
